Haight Street Humbucker

With flute-like neck tones and powerful midrange in the bridge, we designed our Haight St. humbuckers to also play well with single coils.

The Concept…

Our Haight St. humbucker set is built around our preferences for vintage humbuckers - More chime in the neck and more growl in the bridge. After many hours of research, testing, and talking to players, we have created our favorite neck and bridge humbuckers. Enjoy them as a set or pair them with single coils in various configurations for endless sonic possibilities.

Offset Neck Design…

We wanted to build a neck humbucker with enhanced dynamics and more of those magical transient frequencies that often get lost in the process of hum-cancelling. Our solution is to offset the coils by very specific amounts, reducing 60-cycle hum to inaudible levels, while allowing more presence & shimmer to come through. The result is a particularly articulate humbucker with a well balanced voice and attack. People often use the term “Tele on steroids” to describe this tone, others say it has a Filtertron quality. We would describe our Haight St. neck as being like a Texas Blues style Strat neck, but with the subtle warmth and roundness that can only come from a traditional humbucker.

Vintage-Hot Bridge design…

With enhanced clarity and clean, crisp neck tones, what would you want from your bridge pickups? More push and more mids! We wanted to be able to play clean on the neck pickup and then flip the selector switch for a more aggressive, mid-forward, driving tone. The Haight St. bridge pickup is hotter than a traditional PAF but not as hot as many of the early aftermarket pickup archetypes. This creates a higher gain pickup without sacrificing the traditional feel and vibe. Use your guitar volume knob to roll off some of that extra growl for rhythm parts, and bring it right back to drive your solos. Excellent for edge-of-breakup, through to crunchy classic & alt-rock tones.
